The Good News of Jesus Christ

Jesus appointed 12 apostles about 2,000 years ago to go into the world and make disciples [i.e, followers] of all people.

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples [i.e., followers] of all the nations [i.e., peoples], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20

The apostle Peter said it is not the washing of the water that saves us, but the answer of a good conscience in following God. - 1 Peter 3:21

In other words, it is following Christ that saves us.

Baptism is an important step in following Christ, but it is the first step of a lifetime commitment.

Baptism is accepting your need of forgiveness and your willingness to turn from living life your way, to living life God's way, each and every day.

23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. - Luke 9:23

Taking up your cross each day means being willing to make whatever sacrifices are necessary to do God's will.

Being baptized was a step of obedience that people took when they decided to become followers of Jesus.

Participating in what many followers of Christ call, "the Lord's Table" is a way of remembering the sacrifice Jesus made for us, and that He is coming again some day.

32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”

35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe.

40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” - John 6:32-35, 40

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Jesus will return some day. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but He will return to set things right and create a new heaven and earth.

Are you ready to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and to make a commitment to Him that you will follow Him each day of your life for the rest of your life?

Talk to the Lord in your own way, and let Him know that you have decided to submit to Him as your Lord and Savior, and to make the commitment to follow Him each day of your life for the rest of your life.

8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. - 2 Peter 3:8-9, 11
